Canada Scholarship | Everyone Can Learn Python Scholarship

The everyone can learn Python scholarship is a scholarship opportunity designed to help anyone interested in learning data science in Canada. The first DataCamp Everyone Can Learn Python Scholarship Award Program is now open for entries. Interested and qualified candidates can now learn Python online and use the new skills to win $5,000 to support further learning, buy equipment and software, or fund educational projects.

Python is one of the fastest-growing programming languages in the world and it’s an excellent skill for students of all disciplines to add to their skill set. DataCamp would like to help students get started learning this vital technical skill for free.

What to gain in this scholarship

$5,000 for the overall winner shall be given to use towards further learning or formal education
$1,000 shall be given to 5 runners-up to support their education

Eligibility for the scholarship

For one to be considered for this scholarship, one must meet these criteria;

Interested candidates must be at least 18 years of age
Must be currently enrolled in secondary school (i.e. high school), post-secondary school (college, university, or trade school), or a postgraduate degree program
Do not have a post-secondary degree in computer science, data science, data analytics, or a similar or related field of study
You will need to create a unique DataCamp account to access the competition.

It is recommended that applicants complete at least the Introduction to Python contained in https://www.datacamp.com/courses/intro-to-python-for-data-science and Introduction to SQL as specified in https://www.datacamp.com/courses/introduction-to-sql courses on DataCamp.com as the application questions will rely heavily on topics covered in those materials. Both of these courses are available for free.

How the application process works

To apply for the scholarship program, follow the below guidelines.

Step 1: Head straight to https://www.datacamp.com/scholarship/learn-python/form to fill out the online provided application form
Step 2: After submitting the form, you will have to create your free DataCamp account.
Step 3: Complete the free Introduction to Python and Introduction to SQL courses to prepare you for the challenge.
Step 4: Use your newfound knowledge to complete the 2 challenges and submit your responses!
Step 5: There is no cost to participate and your contact information will not be shared with a third party.

Application starting dates and deadline

Applications will be open from 1st September 2022 until 31st March 2023. The scholarship winner and runners-up will be announced on or around 1st May 2023 and will be directly contacted before this date.

Winner Selection Criteria:

The entrant who scores the highest in the scholarship challenge will be deemed the winner – please see the scholarship application page for a full breakdown of the marking criteria. In the event of a tie, DataCamp reserves the right to determine a winner based on other criteria, such as XP.
